[The network video comes on and there's a gentleman who looks rather like Alec, except he's about twenty or thirty years older. He's got the same grin. The same ears. The same tattoo. He appears to have gotten much scruffier though.]

Hello Burby! I just wanted to let everyone to know that the younger version of me is going to be out for the month or so and I'll be hanging around. I'm Alec Troven... the one who smacked myself in the head from the future with a ball.

The store is still open if you need anything.

-------

Alec will be wandering about town if you'd like to bump into him. In person, he's also a bit taller and has a badass long coat on. Because.

[Alec looks like he's about to say something when a ball comes out of nowhere and smacks him soundly in the head. He clutches his head and glares up at something.]

Oh gods! I can't believe you did that you obnoxious git!

[Sighing he continues bouncing the ball up and down in his hands.]

Time travel sucks sometimes, you know? Especially when your future self abuses it.

When; May 4th.
Canon Universe; Star Wars, original Trilogy
Participants; Open! Alec is giggling in there somewhere.

The sign on Alec's shop door says, "Closed for May Fourth".

If you're lucky, you'll see him vanish through one of the random doorways that pop up, giggling like a loon. It should be noted he's wearing clothes that, while aren't Jedi robes, definitely have a Jedi feel to them. Also, he's got a lightsaber instead of his usual longsword.

Come to think of it, it feels to me like there is something important about next week.  May 4.... There is something about the day.

Of course it is the anniversary of Reichenbach Falls.  But it seems to me that there is something more to the day.

[He scrubs at his hair in frustration.]

What is it?
element_wizard: (just a bit uncertain)
[personal profile] element_wizard
Hey.

Um.

So, thanks for the lovely funeral. I have to say I've never stayed dead long enough for someone to actually manage to get to that point. I didn't mean to scare anyone by dying... and coming back to life. It's just not a thing I never thought I'd have to deal with here considering how rarely it happens.

Charlie, you did an awesome job watching the store while I was dead. Remind me to give you a raise.

And no, I don't know who killed me.

We're very certain it was going to be a nice funereal - baring some bards - with people who tolerated Alec.

Things were going well until something started thumping in the casket.

Normally the shop -still unnamed - was opened early by Alec. His sleep schedule tended to be erratic at best and so he usually was up and about to open it. This is why it was unusual for the shop to be locked around eight.

Upon coming inside, it is easy to see why Alec hasn't opened up.

He's laying on the floor with his sword in his chest. There's a lot of blood on the floor as well as a broken coffee cup. Alec has a rather surprised expression on his face, clearly not expecting getting stabbed.

The detectives should be happy.

[Will had been humming tunelessly as he made his way back home down Tramp's Alley. Or rather Oldway Lane, as he knew its true name to be. With the last great battle finished and all the Dark cast out beyond the end of time, he had expected it to be a very long time before he was called for another task.  He was to watch, now. And that Will could do from within his life as a human.

Naturally this meant that it came as a great surprise when he found his surroundings changing completely within the space of a breath.  He pauses, reaching out his sense as he does. Was this the work of the Light? Had he been called for another task?

But even as he stretches his mind out, he cannot feel anything of the Dark in this place. If anything, it felt as if it was of the Wild.

What was he to do here?

At last Will pulls his mind back and calls out with his voice.]

Hullo? Can anyone tell me where I am?

A tall man walks into Burby and looks around at it. He is clearly not human, with his long pointed ears and an ethereal glow about him. Slowly he wanders around the town peering at all the residents with the sort of absent minded professor look on his face. He seems to take interest in everyone, but it's the look of scientist looking at experiment.

The intensity is rather creepy.

When he spots Alec's still unnamed shop he gives a cry of delight and heads right to it. After opening the door there's a very loud noise from Alec that sounds like "What are you doing here!?" but in a few pitches higher than normal.

"Oh, is that how you greet family?"

"You're not family!"

"Of course I am. Distant, but still family. Now, why don't you show me around?"

----

Or before hand, Alec is zoning out in front of his shop, a fedora pulled over his eyes which completely clashes with the bright red long coat he's wearing. But dude, what's fashion?

[Someone only barely figured out how to use a filter. As it is, it's a fail!filter and still goes out to the entire village. Oops. Can you blame her? She's excited.]

[Text to Wesley and accidentally everyone else.]

Somehow managed to get two jobs since I've been here. I can't even begin to explain how excited I am right now.

[Action: Morning: The Jasmine Dragon.]

[Come see Charlie for all your tea-related needs. She's still technically in training so she might flub stuff. But don't worry. She's quick to recover and your tea will always be piping hot.]

[action: evening: unnamed junk store.]

[She's only here for a couple hours. Still getting used to the place and sort of trying to keep things organized. She also stopped on her way from her first job to here to get sandwiches and food for herself and her boss. She'll be wandering around, looking at everything in the shop and trying to remember what objects do what.]

At this point, I'm beginning to think people are trying to mess with us. It shouldn't be this hard to find an apartment in a town the size of a thimble.

Which, if there were only a few places, that would make sense, but there's surprisingly a lot. And some really weird ones. Like the snake apartment. Or the Escher one. You guys aren't all living somewhere where the walls breathe, are you? Or there's an octopus in the bathtub?

I guess what I'm saying is, I could use building recommendations.

[He's walking around in a bit of a hurry, but you can... clearly see that he has absolutely no idea where he's going. Which seems to be the main reason his brows are pressed and his mouth is gaping.]

No. Ohh, no. No, no, no - this isn't happening. This can't be happening. Not again.

[Denial, denial, denial.]

I swear to God, I'm going to sue someone.

[No he isn't.]

Oh my God!

[Conan was not amused.

It wasn't like suddenly finding himself in a new location was anything new. He'd been through his fair share of kidnappings, after all. It was a hazard of the business he was in.

But normally.... Normally he would have been aware of the transition. If only by the obvious`method of a period of unconsciousness. This time he clearly remembered watching the police start work on the clean up of the bombed baggage car. Knowing there was nothing there left for him to do, he had turned to walk away. Vermouth and Bourbon were long gone. And he was quite sure that Kid had already made his leave.

And then he had been here. A quick walk around the village had revealed buildings of European styles and materials. He knew very well that there were no structures like that anywhere near the area of Japan he had been in.

It was time to do some investigating.

Conan makes sure that his body language and expression is appropriately childish before he heads off in search of the nearest likely looking adult. If there was one thing he had learned from his situation, it was how to take full advantage of the usual reactions to a lost child. Most adults never realized just how much they would let slip to kids in this kind of situation.]

Ne, ne! Can you help me? I think I'm lost!

Hey so, tomorrow is sort of my birthday.

Actually, it would all on the equivalent of the 29th, but that's not happening here, now is it? I'm going to be twenty-three ish.

Anyway, I was wondering if anyone would like to join me for dinner. It'll be at the White Rabbit. I'll have everything all set up.

There will be cake and ice cream... as well as other stuff.

So, yeah.

[Actiony things]

At the White Rabbit, Alec has gotten a private room and spent the time setting it up in proper fashion. The table spread is fantastic, at least in his opinion. There's fish and lamb dishes, cooked vegetables in sauces, salads, bread rolls, butter, honey and cheese. He's gotten several bottles of wine, ale and some other random drinks that seemed interesting at the time and there's a huge platter of honey cookies and candies.

It looks all very yummy.

On a table near the entrance are a bunch of 'fairy trifles' as he would call them. Little things that don't really do anything but are kind of neat. Rather like those dipping head things that keep on dipping forever. They're party favors that he's scrounged up.

While waiting hopefully for people he's sitting in a chair and slowly making his way through a book on griffin riders.

It's Saturday night at the local pub, and the owner is trying something new: mandatory karaoke night. Good news is, drinks are free. Bad news is, you have to sing a song to get one. Do you dare?

[Colwyn is in a bit of a quandry. While it is not beyond his ability to comprehend the jumping of worlds, as the Beast's dread castle does just that, he is rather confused and consternated to be experiencing it for himself. He has lost his band of merry men, as well as his mentor, and now finds himself in the middle of a quest with no idea in which direction to turn next.

The only thing he can really think to do is find himself a seer.

So that is the task he takes up, approaching the various and sundry residents of dear Burby with a regal and a single question:]

Where may I find a seer?

Alec is sitting outside his shop, in jeans and a tee-shirt despite the cold, with a bowl of chopped up squares of meat. At least he's not barefoot? Circling him is a small brown dragon, about the length of his arm with a snub nose and jeweled eyes. He fishes out a piece of meat from the bowl and then flicks it into the air.

The piece of meat vanishes after leaving his hands and then the little dragon does too. The meat cube reappears somewhere in the square randomly and the dragon snatching it up just seconds behind it.

It then wings its way back to Alec and trills at him, obviously saying 'again'.

Getting a Dog: Pros and Cons

Pros
1. Dogs are great companions.
2. It would be kind to take in a stray.
3. Pets lower your blood pressure.
4. I want one.
5. It will teach Shirley responsibility. And structure.

Cons
1. If we leave, the dog will still be here, all alone.
2. I would miss the dog if we left it here.
3. We live in a hotel room. Dogs need space.
4. It may be a crazy magic dog or something. (Note to self: make sure dog isn't really a man.)

Yeah, I still don't know if this is a good idea.

If you so happened to be in the little "pocket universe" that so recently was subject to a Burby invasion, you are likely to recognize the uniform which the young man now in town is wearing. In fact, you may recognize the young man himself.

He's certainly assumed that his arrival in this place is somehow tied to the visitors of mysterious origin that were aboard the Enterprise immediately prior to his own unintentional departure, though of course the appearance of the visitors had not actually been explained to anyone's satisfaction before he left.

Now he's exploring, tricorder in hand, and wondering idly about the words of The Traveler, when he had last seen him.

Wesley, there is a power within each of us that most people haven't begun to realize... you have, or I would not have known to come here now...

Now would really be a good time for him to figure out how to tap into that power.
