It's sort of funny how threatening that accidentally sounds. At least the girls seem friendly. Perhaps you should come say hello.

[Alec wanders by and then stops, turns around and walks back.]

Consulting Detectives Club.

[He reads this out loud and slowly. Not like he's making fun of it so much as having trouble reading. The rest of it is read quieter, but still out loud.]

Why a club?

[ Oh, hey, it's their friendly neighborhood guide. Jane smiles hello. ] Hey, Alec. [ Why a club? She shrugs. ] Student organizations. You can never escape them.

'Agency' would have made it sound too much like we know what we're doing.

[ Shirley might be trying to appear cool and detached, peering over her fan of flyers with an ironic expression. She's sort of hoping that everyone nearby is fooled into thinking that she's not a huge dork who is sensitive to being made fun of. ]

Hi Jane, Shirley.

It's always better to pretend like you know what you're doing, it makes people want to follow you.

[Alec always pretends like he knows what he's doing.]

[ Shirley forgot to say hi, but she did raise her eyebrows in greeting. 'Yep, you're a person I recognize. I probably even like you. 'Sup.' ]

You would think so, but apparently we're using reverse psychology.

It was Watson's clever idea.

It's not reverse psychology! [ She shoots a look at Shirley. ] We're just not professionals, you know. This is an amateur operation. That's why it's more of a club than something official.

Ah! Okay.

What do you plan to do?

[watsonyourmind]

We'll take the cases that people bring to us, large or small. And we'll figure them out.

[element_wizard]

Sounds like fun.

I'm good at finding stuff.

[watsonyourmind]

Then we could definitely use you! [ Yay, a recruit! ] I'll let you know when we start doing meetings. Or get a case, whichever comes first.

[Neglects to mention that his good at finding stuff means point him and he can find it. Because that would be mean.]

[ Hey, that's already more skilled than Jane. ]

You don't happen to know of anything odd going on? ...Normal odd, if you know what I mean. Not magical.

Nooo... can't say I have. But I haven't looked for it either.

[ Jane shrugs. ] It's... maybe not a place I'd choose for myself, to be honest. But everyone is really nice, and we're doing okay.

It's one of the saner parts of fairy. I'm thinking of setting up a shop.

A shop? What are you going to sell?

Stuff like drugs, or stuff like pornography?

[ Yep, she's decided to maybe be in this conversation. Don't mind her, she was just being totally and completely quiet up until now. But now it's time to be a troll, apparently. ]

People usually mean one or the other.

Both. Among other things. I don't really discriminate in crap I collect.

Admittedly the porn might not be all that good...

Cool. I mean, not that I'm really looking for porn...




[ Ahem, glance at Watson ] Or drugs, mind you.

But the rest of it sounds very interesting.

Weeeeell... the porn probably isn't what you...[There's a pause.] You use the internet. Never mind.

[No of course not. She doesn't use drugs at all.]

I like to think so. I have pink sword that gives fashion advice that I've been trying to get rid of for years.
