2 ✎ recruiting
There are two girls in the town square, pressing brightly-colored flyers into the hands of any people who happen to pass by. This is what the flyers say:
CONSULTING DETECTIVES CLUB
Burby branch
Now recruiting! No experience necessary!
Join us for an experience you won't soon forget!
Contact Shirley Holmes or Jane Watson for meeting details.
It's sort of funny how threatening that accidentally sounds. At least the girls seem friendly. Perhaps you should come say hello.

I still think it would have made more sense to get a few cases first.

Well, as you keep saying: you're booooooooooooooored. [ She dragged out the world, exaggerating Shirley's whining and then snickering to herself a little. ] Now you have something to do until cases happen.

[ If Watson was trying to pull her pigtails with that bit of mockery, she won't find it so easy. Holmes is self-mocking! ]
... Until you inevitably ask them out.
threadjacks like a baws
Oh, does somebody have a date?
[The eyebrow waggle would've been lecherous on anyone younger and less jolly, but on Iroh it's just goofy.]
<3
[ Here, have a flyer! ]
<3333
[ Grinning. Although, Iroh might actually be interested and, to be honest, he strikes Shirley as someone who might actually be good at this kind of thing. So she attempts to retain some semblance of professionalism ]
But I'll protect you, should you decide to join.
<3333!
What kind of club is it?
no subject
[ Shirley totally deduced that Iroh couldn't read the fliers in the amount of time that it took him to realize it himself. Kind of intriguing, the fact that he spoke English but apparently did not read it.
(Everyone spoke English, here, in fact. Totally normal English, albeit maybe with the occasional funny accent. Even the dragon spoke English! Why hadn't she thought to question that before?) ]
Experience isn't a requirement to joining.

Consulting Detectives Club.
[He reads this out loud and slowly. Not like he's making fun of it so much as having trouble reading. The rest of it is read quieter, but still out loud.]
Why a club?

[ Shirley might be trying to appear cool and detached, peering over her fan of flyers with an ironic expression. She's sort of hoping that everyone nearby is fooled into thinking that she's not a huge dork who is sensitive to being made fun of. ]

It's always better to pretend like you know what you're doing, it makes people want to follow you.
[Alec always pretends like he knows what he's doing.]

You would think so, but apparently we're using reverse psychology.
It was Watson's clever idea.
no subject
Is it working?
[Weird ass idea to him.]

Holmes is trying to have a positive attitude, so she just smiles winningly at Simon. Anyone who wasn't a telepath would think she was flirting or something. ]

Maybe some work.
[Though he doesn't look convinced.]

It's also fun to sit around and talk about mysteries. We do a lot of that.
no subject
Which is exactly what she did, if 'you' are Watson in this scenario. ]

What kind of mysteries?
no subject
Oh, all kinds. Murders, missing objects... whatever seems interesting.
