5 ✎ karaoke

It's Saturday night at the local pub, and the owner is trying something new: mandatory karaoke night. Good news is, drinks are free. Bad news is, you have to sing a song to get one. Do you dare?

[ Mingle post! Underage folks are welcome in the pub, so don't be shy and please tag around! ]

She nods a greeting. "I see you're settling in. Haven't seen any creatures about, have you?"

Settling in. He's not entirely sure he would call it that.

"Not the one I'm hunting," his tone is pleasant, but there is always an underlying steeliness to talking about the Beast.

"Good hunting, all the same," she answers. She squints at the stage, where someone is singing Barbie Girl. Lin has no idea what it means.

"The music is... interesting," she says.

Colwyn is equally oblivious about the majority of it, but every now and then he hears something folksy enough to at least reminisce what he knows.

"Lively, yes!" He agrees with that, looking quite boyish when he smiles. It belies that side of him which was just present: the grim hunter, the king deprived of his queen. "Will you be singing?"

And then the smile is impish.

She really should loosen up once in a while. It doesn't seem like that day is today, though.

"As much as a drink would improve the sound in here, it's not likely," she answers. Perhaps with a hint of a smile.

"There isn't," he challenges lazily, "A single song you might be willing to share?"

Eyebrows up.

She recognizes that challenge. Maybe a brief warmth sparks in her slow smile.

"I'm as tone-deaf as my mother was blind," she says. "But I suppose it is the people here who would be suffering by it, not me."
