Open!

Alec has been quietly busy.

Bopping in and out of places within time and between.

To do what?

He's found an unused shop of his own and has been renovating it.

For a given value of renovate.

There's junk all over the place. Odds, ends, odd ends, things and whatsits, lots of books, shiny objects and everything else.

Come check it out

Watson can't help but be intrigued by junk shops. They always contain the weirdest things. As soon as she wanders in she can smell that familiar smell of old things, yellowing books and darkening wood and who knows what else. The scent of age.

She wonders, for a moment, if she dares to touch anything. Sometimes you got 'bargains' in normal junk shops that ended up being old, dirty, broken, or dangerous. What if she ended up picking up someone's discarded spell and got turned into a rabbit for the rest of her life? That wouldn't be good.

"Hello?"

Maybe she should see who is running this place, first.

"Oh hey!" she said, relieved to see a familiar face. Some of the denizens of Fairy, she wouldn't trust to hand her a glass of water. But Alec was probably okay, if a bit weird.

"Quite a collection you have going here," she said, poking the spine of the book with a cautious finger.

[personal profile] watsonyourmind 2012-12-27 01:29 am (UTC)(link)
"Where could you possibly keep it all? People don't just carry around a shop's worth of junk."

When the book doesn't bite, she pulls it off the shelf and begins to wipe off the dust.

Jane laughs. "I'm afraid of what she'll say." She was dressed, plainly and warmly, in an oversized coat and blue jeans.

She'll follow him, though.

[personal profile] watsonyourmind 2012-12-27 02:29 am (UTC)(link)
"Yeah, well, you're not wearing any clothes," Jane answers, feeling oddly snippy considering it's a freaking pink sword. A glittery pink sword. Did anyone actually ever fight with that? That is, use it as a weapon. She was sure plenty of people fought it.

[personal profile] watsonyourmind 2012-12-30 07:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Jane shakes her head. "I don't know how you ever managed to sell it to anyone," she said. "A very stylish knight?"

[personal profile] watsonyourmind 2012-12-31 02:25 am (UTC)(link)
"That sounds like a fantasy novel in the making," she answered, imagining it. She took a long glance around. "So... do you have anything less... rude here? Show me something interesting."

[personal profile] watsonyourmind 2012-12-31 03:32 am (UTC)(link)
She thinks about it. "Yeah, I think so. At least part of it. Lots of dwarves wandering around, yeah?"

[personal profile] watsonyourmind 2013-01-02 03:36 am (UTC)(link)
Jane is cheerfully oblivious. "Oh, right. Well, you know, dwarves, elves, hobbits, wizards, right? Standard fantasy fare. I know what you're talking about. I think I've met a few of them, come to think of it."

At least, that's what she assumed about that one bartender in the pointy hat. Otherwise he was making a really poor fashion choice.

Well, that doesn't seem to make much sense. Watson takes a look. They're pretty, at least? She doesn't wear much jewelry, but there are a couple that appeal to her.

"They're the other rings of power, or other rings that control rings of power? What are rings of power, anyway?"

[personal profile] watsonyourmind 2013-01-05 05:20 am (UTC)(link)
"I've read a bit," Watson admitted. She didn't spend a whole lot of time online, as a general rule, but after her injury, when she was holed up in bed healing, she had discovered all number of timewasters on the Internet. Including fanfiction.net. That was an interesting experience.

"The girl who always has a suspiciously similar name to the author?" She laughs. "I thought about writing one of those once, but I think I missed the window."

Mary is still completely enchanted by everything in Fairy, and this place is full of so many old, intriguing things that it gets her attention immediately. Each thing has such energy, such life, such history.

She can't help but drift in, quiet as ever, and start gazing around at the vast collection.
