But what if we weren't taken, not purposefully? Our transportation could have been due to some sort of freak magical confluence.

[ Lin considers this, but only for a moment, because she can't even conceive of it. ] I've never heard of such a thing. Magic is a game for children.

[Alester gives Lin a brief puzzled frown because what she's said comes off to him like 'physics is for children' which is just a weird thing to say, but he focuses on Don Quixote. He's gone a little pale--all he did was share his theory so it's starting to feel like the bearded man knows something about him that he shouldn't. Plus there's the 'black, ungodly art' thing but he's not touching that one.]

It's not real is what I meant. Perhaps wherever you come from -- [ She's reluctant to say that it might be somewhere totally different, but there seems no other conclusion. ] -- but not in my country. If one of my officers offered that explanation, I'd tell him to stop being so ridiculous.
