Since I've been here for a few weeks now, and it doesn't look like I can get home soon, I thought maybe I should introduce myself. My name is Conan Edogawa, and I'm an elementary school detective!
Are there any other detectives here? Or police officers? I already met one.
[He hoped that any detectives would be more useful to have some useful information. Or at least more useful that he had acquired so far. Magic was not real. There was always another explanation when something appeared to have been accomplished by it.
And he didn't have time to be stranded here. Ran was waiting for him.]

[ She supposes she's not surprised - he seemed a bit more logical than is normal for a kid his age. ]

...Holmes? Like Sherlock Holmes?

... I don't think we're related. You know him?

...Holmes is fictional.

[ Interesting. Further confirmation that some people exist as fictional characters in other worlds. And that Sherlock is one such person - how many people could possibly have that name, after all?
... She doesn't think he exists as a fictional character in her world. Judging by the way Conan talks about him, he must be very well-known, so she would probably have noticed. Which means that she and Conan aren't from the same world, and neither are Conan and Sherlock.
Which means that there are definitely at least two very similar modern universes existing in parallel. Which means that there is absolutely no reason why there couldn't be three. ]

[Conan frowns at her as the inkling of an idea dances around the edge of his mind. She couldn't possibly mean what he thought she might mean, right? The improbable was one thing. Fictional people being real was another things altogether.]
no subject
[ Although, seeing that sad face is making her wonder if it's maybe not equally rude to spring the existence of multiple universes on people.
Oops. ]

....Is that his real name?
[Conan had met Holmes fans crazy enough to change their names before.]
no subject
[ Oh god what if there are detectives who change their names to Sherlock Holmes in universes where he's fictional? And then what if all of the Sherlocks in turn change their names to Augustus Dupin? And then what do all of the Dupins change their names to?
Oh god. Oh god oh god. ]
no subject
[...Not that Conan could say much about that.]

[ And definitely a simpler one than hers. It has its merits, but ultimately falls apart in the face of the evidence.
It's a fun one to play with, though. ]
But the fictional character doesn't seem to be obscure. This Sherlock must be expecting people to pick up on the reference, right?

My roommate and I have a detectives club here. Not that we've had many cases.

What kinds of things do you investigate?

Of course! Its a detective's job to find the truth.

Truth is overrated.
