Wesley would certainly be on board with applying Science to the situation, if he were aware of the part he's currently playing in it. Of course, he isn't just yet, as he makes his way around with the tricorder. Its readings aren't precise, prey to unknown interference (perhaps just the nature of this place itself, by Wesley's estimation), but there are life sign signals.

He turns slightly in the direction of her reading, and peers in that direction - but after a few moments, it fades, and he shrugs it off as another anomalous reading.

So he turns away again, resuming his gradual walk as he glances periodically from the tricorder to his surroundings and back.
